About this Event

Join us on the trail, meet new friends and log miles as part of Nature Unplugged's 2025 Hike-A-Thon! Each hike is ranger-led in partnership with the County of San Diego's Park and Recreation.

Registration encouraged, no cost to participate.

SYCAMORE CANYON COUNTY PRESERVE / GOODAN RANCH

Sycamore Canyon Preserve consists of 2,272 acres of coastal sage scrub and chaparral-covered hills, including the 325-acre Goodan Ranch, a mix of grassland, riparian, coastal sage, oak woodland and mixed chaparral. Other features include an picnic tables, a rest area, outdoor amphitheater, and a horse trough and hitching post.

More than 10 miles of trails lead to grand vistas, abundant wildlife and interesting reminders of human use, centuries ago. We'll be hiking Martha Grove Trail Loop. Feel free to check out the virtual hike of Martha’s Grove on the Parks & Rec website.

The preserve includes the Goodan Ranch Center, which was built next to the original ranch house that was burned during the 2003 Cedar Fire. A LEED-certified project, the center houses a multi-purpose demonstration room, exhibit room, and support spaces that run with low site impact and high energy efficiency.

This trail begins and ends at the parking lot at the end of Sycamore Canyon Road. (16281 Sycamore Canyon Rd, Poway, CA 92064)

ABOUT THE HIKE-A-THON:

OCTOBER 1 - 31, 2025 | For the month of October, participants will be taking steps (literally and figuratively) to improve their own health, build community and advocate for less screen time and more green time. This event inspires people of all ages and abilities to get outdoors and raise funds to bring preventative mental health programming to schools and communities in need. Participants can log miles from anywhere in the world!
