Shannon Robinson, MD will present and facilitate a discussion with county staff and community healthcare and justice system stakeholders on current standards for opioid use disorder (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUD). The training is designed to ensure one standard of care in San Benito County across different levels and locations and to highlight the need for seamless transitions for patients. This training is intended to educate attendees about the evidence base for medications for addiction treatment (MAT).
Course Description: Providing education to county staff and community healthcare and justice system stakeholders regarding common barriers and misconceptions about substance use and MAT is a critical component of improving patient outcomes. Sharing this information can lead to increased uptake and continuation of Medic*tion based on national guidelines, ultimately decreasing overdoses and saving lives.
Target Audience: BHRS Staff (mental health and substance abuse); community-based healthcare and hospital providers (e.g., counselors/therapists, case managers, social workers, nurses, peers, and pharmacists); justice agency staff (e.g., probation officers, reentry team members, collaborative court team members); Tri-County Opioid Task Force members; and other stakeholders.
