Sam Rudin is, of course, the owner/founder of The Back Room. But prior to that, he was best known for playing some of the most exciting piano you are likely to hear - evoking the spirit of Fats Waller, Oscar Peterson, Mose Allison, and Jerry Lee Lewis...sometimes all at the same time. He is also a compelling vocalist whose rough-hewn voice conveys both drama and humor.
Dave Anderson is the principal bass player of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Having studied jazz directly under Jaco Pastorius, he has formidable jazz and funk chops, too.
Dave Easley performs miracles on the pedal steel guitar, bringing it to musical places it seldom goes. Brian Blade, Ruthie Foster, Peter Rowan, and Colonel Bruce Hampton have all made use of his artistry. In addition to his instrumental skills, he writes original songs in every genre you can imagine and some you can’t.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or you may purchase your tickets at the door the night of the show.
Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own food and adult beverages with no additional corkage fee.
