Reston CUUPS will gather in the sanctuary to celebrate Samhain with a ritual on Saturday, October 26th at 7:00pm. All are invited to arrive 15 minutes early to get settled in; the ritual will start promptly at 7:00pm.
Samhain is a Pagan festival that falls between the Fall Equinox (also called Mabon) and the Winter Solstice (also called Yule) and is the first festival that falls in the dark half of the year. It marks the beginning of the Pagan New Year. It is a time to honor our ancestors of blood and spirit, a time to remember our beloved dead and a time to celebrate the end of the harvest season and the change from summer to the quiet and rest of winter.
An altar will be available to honor our ancestors and loved ones. Attendees may bring a picture(s) of loved ones to place on the altar (you will take your pictures when you leave), and all are invited to light candles in remembrance of loved ones and ancestors.
