While it's springtime here in Hobart, we're honouring the ancient Celtic festival alongside our family across the water in Ireland, where Samhain marks the end of harvest and the beginning of the dark half of the year.
The Celts believed the veil between worlds was thinnest on this night, so they wore costumes to disguise themselves and lit bonfires as protection from wandering spirits and fairies.
