Samhain is the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the time of light and the beginning of the dark months. Different traditions celebrate this same seasonal period, such as Día de los Muertos in Mexico, All Saints Day, and Halloween. As a moment of transition, it is said that the veil between the worlds is thinnest on Samhain, and historically it is a moment to honour and connect with loved ones we have lost.
The Fold invites you to join our community on Friday 1 November at 6:30pm for Samhain, to celebrate the end of summer, to embrace the slower dark months, and to remember anyone in your life who has passed over. You are invited to bring something that you feel has a connection to the person or animal who has passed over whom you wish to honour. This could be a physical object, a poem, a photograph, or anything that feels appropriate to you.
We will provide a warming hot pot made from our wonderful vegetables grown here on the farm. If you are able to bring something else to share, you are welcome to do so but it's not required.
There is no charge for this shared celebration, but small donations for the food are welcome.
The event will be held outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather. We will be under cover in our Market Barn if it’s raining. Children and dogs are warmly welcome.
