PRAED (Lebanon)
Founded by Raed Yassin and Paed Conca in 2006, “Praed” is a band whose musical oeuvre can be described as a mixture
of Arabic popular music, free jazz, and electronics. In the same year, the band made its first public appearance in Al Maslakh
festival in Switzerland, immediately followed by a concert at the Irtijal festival in Beirut. Since then, the band has frequented
numerous international music festivals and toured intensively world-wide, spanning Japan, Egypt, North, Central and South
Africa, Europe and Canada.
Through these endeavors, the band has created a large global network with other renowned musicians as musical collaborators.
The band consists of two regular members: Raed Yassin playing keyboards, laptop, electronics and vocals; and Paed Conca on
clarinet, electric bass and electronics.
Mayu Amano (Japan)
Tokyo-based music explorer. Drawn to aesthetic and immersive sonic experiences, she explores various forms of expression from DJ/music selection to curation.
She has had her own program on community radio TSUBAKI fm since 2019, with music selections centered on experimental and contemporary Jazz from across the globe. She has provided mixes to various radio stations worldwide such as NTS Radio and Radio Alhara. Mayu is the organizer of 'Glowing Waves', an event series based on the concept of a soundscape inspired by bioluminescence in the deep sea. She explores the creation of space with artists from various fields from music to visuals, lighting and dance, and dives into the new frontier of the music scene.
A.P.R.A (Taiwan)
A.P.R.A. is a name derived from Jacques Derrida’s concept, meaning “I don’t know man, let’s go for dinner!” He is one founding member of Scattered Purgatory, dub engineer and on keys of the Formobeat big band Island Futurism, now also involved as the bassist of the neo-classical post rock act 2HRs.
The music heavily sampled traditional instruments from Southeast and South Asian cultural spheres combined with live instruments, presenting polyrhythmic electronic music, overlapping echoes, and deep, resonating bass, advocating a “New Asian Music” to break the cultural barrier.
