About this Event
Samchykivka Art Workshop
Join us at Ukraine House for a creative and educational journey into the world of Samchykivka, a folk art that has its roots in a village named Samchyky in the Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine.
What is Samchykivka? Samchykivka is more than just a painting style, it is a language of joy and protection. Traditionally used to decorate homes to bring harmony and prosperity. The art is easily recognizable thanks to its use of bold colors, rhythmic ornaments, and a musical sense of movement. Every element of the artwork holds a significant meaning, reflecting themes of love, nature, and life. After being nearly lost during the Soviet occupation, Samchykivka is now experiencing a powerful revival.
We will be creating traditional floral ornaments on the fabric: t-shirt or sweatshirt to take home.
