With their profound experience and artistry, Viraja and Shyamjith infuse Bharatanatyam with deep spiritual and emotional resonance, taking the audience on a captivating journey through this ancient art form. The performance opens with Ganesha Stuti, a piece invoking Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Through graceful movements, choreographed by Shyamjith Kiran, the dancers convey divine blessing and fortitude. The journey continues with Rekha, inspired by the Kalagni Rudra Upanishad, which explores the spiritual significance of the tripundra — the forehead mark of Lord Shiva. This piece embodies the divinity of creation through powerful lines and postures. Next, the performance shifts to an emotional reflection on motherhood in Padam, which depicts Kunti's inner turmoil as she contemplates her relationship with her son, Karna. Choreographed by A. Janardhanan, this piece evokes deep pathos through the lilting rhythms of Ragam Shivaranjani and Misra Chapu Talam. Abhang, a Marathi devotional piece by Sant Namdev, conveys the challenge of maintaining spiritual focus amidst worldly distractions. Viraja and Shyamjith's portrayal captures Namdev's intense yearning for divine connection with vivid emotional intensity. The evening culminates with an ashtapadi expressing Lord Krishna's longing for Radha, set in the raga Kalyani, followed by Thillana, which celebrates the cosmic rhythm of life through vibrant choreography in Ragam Mand and Adi talam.
