ABOUT THE PROGRAM: “Samadhi” is a Sanskrit word referring to the perfect union of the individualized soul with infinite Spirit. In samadhi the mind becomes still and totally aware of the present moment and its oneness with the totality of “all-that-is.”
Samadhi: the Movie, Parts 1, 2, and 3 is a series of films by Daniel Schmidt that explore the mystical or transcendent union that is at the root of all spirituality and self-inquiry. In this three-session program, we will watch, meditate upon, and then discuss these stunningly beautiful and mind-expanding films. Schmidt weaves together thought-provoking narrative explanations of various ancient and modern spiritual, religious, and philosophical traditions. He combines these teachings with brilliant computer-generated fractals, sacred geometry, and other visual images and uplifting music to create a truly awe-inspiring video experience. Watch the 9-minute trailer below to get a sense of how majestic these movies are.
In each session, we will watch one part of the movie (each about 60-90 minutes long), meditate on what we watched and experienced, and then share our thoughts, questions, observations, and new learnings on the film and its subject matter. NOTE: It is not necessary to see the individual parts in sequence in order to watch and appreciate the other parts. (In other words, if you can't make it to Part 1 and/or 2 you can still appreciate what's in Parts 2 and/or 3, and vice versa.) You also may wish to watch each segment on YouTube before or after attending these sessions.
ANOTHER NOTE: Prior to creating the Samadhi films, Schmidt produced another extraordinary film series called “Inner World Outer Worlds.” This is a 4-part series and is available on YouTube.
