Originally from Barraganyatti on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Sam left home at 18 to pursue his dream of becoming a Blues artist. He lived in Sydney and Melbourne for the last 26 years and performed in high-level established bands. He toured internationally and performed at many music festivals in Australia.
In recent years he was the lead guitarist in Dreamboogie, who were a highly polished and dynamic live Blues band led by charismatic singer, Rebecca Davey. The band’s innovative sound incorporating electronic loops resulted in wins at the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society’s Blues Challenge in 2016 where they made it to the semi-final at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and Band of the Year at the 2018 Victorian-Tasmanian Blues Awards.
In 2020, Sam decided it was time to pursue his dream to front his own band and launched his own solo show, Sam Buckley.
Sam had the honour and privilege to create his debut album with Blues royalty, Lester Snell. Lester is renowned as producing/arranging some of the greatest Blues artists to date: Albert King, BB King, Robert Cray and many more. It has been the most challenging and rewarding highlight of Sam’s career to work with Lester - the influence he has had on Sam’s musicianship is profound.
Sam has released two singles off his debut album: Blue Ocean and Rock Me Baby - both made it into the AMRAP Top 10 Regional chart. Sam received both radio play and interviews in: Australia, USA, Canada and London. Over the last two years, Sam has supported Australian icons: Ash Grunwald, Katie Noonan and Ray Beadle.
He has featured at the following festivals over the last three years: Big Chill Festival, Dungowan Day Out, Bellingen Blues Festival, Cronulla Jazz & Blues Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival for the last three years in a row. Sam was the front cover feature artist of Found Regional Magazine.
