THE TALENT
The Sam Brown Band engages their audience with a lively and eclectic mix of original post-modern jazz, blues, Americana, and reinterpretations of classic rock favorites. Growing up in Austin in the 80s and 90s, guitarist Sam Brown was deeply influenced by the vibrant and varied music scene. His favorite guitarists include Charlie Hunter, Bill Frisell and Pat Metheny, and his compositional style draws inspiration from the great piano trios of Ahmad Jamal, Luke Howard and Esbjorn Svensson. He has been collaborating with bassist and producer Bobby McDonald since 2000. Drummer and Berklee College of Music graduate, Eric Hahn, rounds out the trio with 50 years of percussion experience.
THE BAR
Opened in November 2020, Cowboy Surfer is a casual bar in Memorial City, Houston keeping its namesake culture alive through drinks, eats, live music and art.
