Nicoluzo Cacotrigi (a rare varietal from Corfu in the Ionian Sea) - from Crete, Domaine Economou's 2004 Antigone (perhaps the greatest red wine ever made in Greece), From Santorini, Hatzidakis Winery's wonderful, Brunello like Mavrotragano and "Familia" Assyrtiko - also from Santorini, Koutsogiannopoulos's Ksera Homata (80 -120 year old single vineyard Assyrtiko), Siatista's 2017 Magoutes Vineyard, "Parcel Selection", and we will be taking pre-orders for large formats on this wine as well. From Cephalonia, Sclavos's Synodos Red that must be tasted to be understood and rivals the greatest island reds of Sicily and the Azores.
Sotiris Bafitis will have a table showing the Sotiris Bafitis Selections wines including the Karamolegos "Ftelos" Santorini Assyrtiko from 150+ year old vines, Exceptional Agiorgitiko from Nemean producer Mitravalas, delicious Xinomavro from Naoussa producer, Kokkinos and more!
We will have other gems from around the world open to taste and various fall pre-orders available from these producers.
Highlight of these others include:
New Zealand - Central Otago's Rippon (98 pt Mature Vineyards Pinot Noir and Riesling) and Burn Cottage (3 Pinot Noirs w/ mid 90's ratings) and the 97 point Puriri Hills 2015 "Harmonie du Soir" Bordeaux Blend from the North Island
France - Champagne Eric Rodez's Cuvee Grands Vintages (similar to Krug's Grand Cuvee and information on how to pre-order rare single vineyard and varietal champagnes from the Rodez collection).
California - We will have open the 2005 Jonata "Sangre" Syrah and will be offering a pre-order mix case of library vintages made available to us by the winery
Artadi - We will have this iconic producer's Artadi "El Carretil" 2020 single vineyard open to taste and other single vineyards will also be offered for ordering
This is an event not to be missed! This is not a portfolio tasting, but rather a chance to taste a focused set of wines that are not usually open and learn about the very best wines coming out of Greece and other parts of the world. We hope you will find some wines, available now and for pre-order, that will inspire you and that you can offer to your guests in the same spirit of learning and sharing the exceptional. We hope you can make it!
