- Check in and captain's meeting on Thursday, 01/29/2025 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Salty Shamrock Irish Pub. The OFFICIAL captain’s meeting will be at the Salty Shamrock Irish Pub (6816 US Hwy 41, Apollo Beach, FL 33572) at approximately 7:00 pm on 01/29/2025. The captain’s meeting is not mandatory and will be live streamed via Facebook Live.
- Tournament boundaries are from the Skyway Bridge to the south throughout Tampa Bay to the north. Anglers can launch from any public ramp and must fish anywhere in between the boundaries, but lines may not be in the water prior to 7:00 am. ANGLERS MUST FISH PUBLIC ACCESS WATER ONLY. THIS CLOSES MIRA BAY (inside the boat lift) OFF TO ALL SALTY SHEEPSHEAD CLASSIC ANGLERS.
- $50.00 entry fee per angler. Pre-registration will start on December 15, 2024 at 5:00 pm and entry fees will be collected via Venmo. Entry fees paid in cash must be collected at the captain’s meeting by 8:00 pm on 01/29/2025. NO OTHER ENTRY FEES WILL BE COLLECTED AFTER 8:00 PM ON 01/29/2025.
- Weigh-in will be after the tournament from 1:00-2:00 pm on 02/01/2025. Anglers MUST be at the weigh-in NO LATER THAN 2:00 pm on 02/01/2025. Anglers arriving at 2:01pm will be disqualified. The weigh-in will be at the Salty Shamrock Irish Pub (6816 US Hwy 41, Apollo Beach, FL 33572).
- This is a K*ll tournament. Catch-and-release may be practiced at the angler’s discretion and based on FWC regulations. Each angler must provide their own individual cell phone for pictures. Pictures will be inspected upon return to the weigh-in. Do not text pictures to tournament officials during the tournament.
- Salty Sheepshead Classic anglers will adhere to FWC regulations when it comes to the harvest of sheepshead. 12” minimum length, 8 sheepshead per person daily bag limit.
- ONLY hook and line gear may be used. No cast nets, seine nets, gigs, spears, multi-hook rigs, snatch hooks, or bowfishing is allowed. You may use live bait, artificial, or fly-fishing gear. If you fish from a paddle craft and wade, you must stay within 50 feet of your vessel. Dock and bridge fishing is allowed within PUBLIC ACCESS WATER ONLY.
- NO MORE THAN 4 ANGLERS MAY FISH ON ANY VESSEL PARTICIPATING IN THE TOURNAMENT.
- Longest 2 sheepshead total to the nearest ¼ inch will win (pinch tail measurement). This is an individual tournament. There will be cash payouts for individuals placing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Tie breakers will be determined by the earliest check-in time.
- The whole fish must be in the picture along with the angler’s measuring device and tournament marker. Pictures that do not meet tournament requirements will not be counted and will lead to disqualification. The tournament token will be revealed via the Salty Shamrock Facebook page at 7:00 am on 02/01/2025.
- Required USCG safety gear must be on board for those anglers fishing from a boat. Anglers must also possess a valid Florida saltwater fishing license and adhere to all state fishing regulations. Salty Sheepshead Classic tournament anglers will also show courtesy to other tournament and recreational anglers. Salty Sheepshead Classic anglers will also be expected to follow the honor system in this tournament by adhering to ALL tournament rules. If you cheat in a fishing tournament, you are just pathetic and sad.
