Nepantla: Border Arte, Curated by Roxanne Gray with 801 Salon
Nepantla: Border Arte features local visual and performance artists exploring borderland identities through Gloria Anzaldúa’s concept of “nepantla” — a space of cultural and emotional in-betweenness. The works reflect on assimilation, erasure, lineage, and migration, creating a collective space for storytelling, resistance, and healing across generations and shifting cultural boundaries.
No Woman Is an Island, Matalyn Zundel
Matalyn Zundel observes her sister in a quiet moment of self-reflection and considers how to represent her through oil paint — layered, textured, and ever-changing. In a history where women were often muses, not makers, Zundel embraces the radical act of portraying another woman with depth, presence, and deep personal care.
Meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments, and immerse yourself in these powerful exhibitions. We hope to see you there!
