About this Event
Sunrise was gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious. Bags are packed. But wait – don’t head back to your hectic life just yet.
Make time for one more adventure!
Join eminent researcher Dr. Tim Lowenstein for a 3-4 hour excursion to explore one of Death Valley’s most iconic features: the vast, shimmering expanse of salt on the valley floor.
Think you know all there is to know about salt. Think again.
Dr. Lowenstein is widely regarded as one of the world’s authorities on salt deposits. His work on sediment cores taken from Death Valley National Park have documented ancient lake levels and climate change over the past 200,000 years and confirmed the long-term survival of microorganisms and DNA in salt crystals. He is a Distinguished Professor in the Geological Sciences and Environmental Studies department of Binghamton University, State University of New York.
