Wish list in place, as long as you message your (reasonable) favourites by Wednesday. Merengue lovers - you need to speak up if you want it, if 4+ people asks, you'll have a couple tracks. There will be a few kizombas and a cha cha cha.
Downstairs - 80-90% bachata a good mix of traditional, sensual and Dominican tracks, with a sprinkling of kizomba- happy to take music requests in advance!
We will feed you with nibbles and sweets.
Of course we have a guest list ie. free entry for fellow dance teachers in recognition of their work and commitment to growing our dancing community.
Our wristband policy:
There’s the normal stripey wristband that 95% wear and you can totally ask them to dance.
We have the blue “I brought watermelons” wristband, which is for those who have not done any classes, have no clue what they are doing and want some guidance from dancers.
We also have the red, “please don’t ask” wristband. This was introduced after lockdown when not everyone was comfortable being close to strangers. It is now for anyone who is recovering from injury, illness, chemo… anything that will make them vulnerable to falls or injuries and they can only dance with their safe partners who know what not to do and where not to touch, to not aggravate their condition. Please don’t ask anyone with red wristband and don’t enquire what their health problem is.
This is a venue ran by volunteers, with a very cheap bar and a very good supply of non-alcoholic drinks for drivers alongside your usual booze.
Venue is easily accessible by public transport and parking on street in the evening is free.
