Salsa dancing is a lively and rhythmic partner dance that originated from Latin America, blending Afro-Cuban, Puerto Rican, and other Latin musical influences. It is typically danced to salsa music and features quick footwork, turns, and fluid movements. Linear style salsa, also known as “LA style” is characterized by dancers moving in a straight line or “slot,” rather than in circular patterns. In Linear style, dancers typically break on the first beat of the music (on1).

This beginner-friendly session is designed for complete newcomers with no dance experience required. You’ll get a taste of the basics, including simple footwork, timing, and rhythm, along with an introduction to lead and follow principles in partner work. Our friendly instructors will guide you step-by-step in a supportive environment, giving you a feel for the music, the movement, and the joy of salsa. Come solo or bring a friend—no partner needed. Just wear comfortable shoes and get ready to move, smile, and discover the magic of salsa!
FUNdamentals - This foundational salsa class is perfect for beginners (who have done a taster class or two) and anyone looking to solidify their basics. The class focuses on building a strong understanding of timing and rhythm, helping students connect with the music and dance confidently on beat. Participants will learn essential footwork patterns and how to move comfortably within the linear style (on1). Emphasis is placed on lead and follow techniques, ensuring clear communication and connection between partners. The class also covers the 8 fundamental salsa moves, right turn, left turn, cross-body lead, cross-body turn, 1.5 right turn, walk through, 1/2 left, and 1.5 left turn. Through structured drills and partner exercises, students will develop coordination, musicality, and the skills needed to transition smoothly between moves. No partner required—just bring your energy and a willingness to have fun while learning!
Progression - Designed for dancers who have a solid understanding of the fundamentals, this progression salsa class takes your skills to the next level. Building on core concepts like timing, rhythm, footwork, and lead-follow connection, the class introduces more complex partnerwork, dynamic turn patterns, and styling techniques for both leaders and followers. Students will deepen their understanding of musical interpretation, develop fluid transitions between moves, and explore variations of the 8 fundamental patterns to expand their dance vocabulary. Special focus is placed on enhancing precision, body movement, and responsiveness, helping dancers move with greater confidence and expression. Ideal for those ready to go beyond the basics and bring more creativity, control, and finesse to the dance floor.
Elevation - Ready to take your salsa to new heights? The Elevation class is designed for intermediate dancers who have a solid foundation and are confident with core techniques and partnerwork. This level focuses on refining style, musical interpretation, and body movement, while introducing advanced turn patterns, directional changes, and fluid combinations that require precision, timing, and control. You’ll explore deeper elements of connection, momentum, and frame, developing the ability to adapt and respond intuitively on the dance floor. The class also integrates styling for leaders and followers, helping you dance with more personality, finesse, and confidence. Ideal for dancers looking to elevate their technique, enhance their versatility, and unlock greater creativity in their social dancing.
