Salsa Saturday with Sean Bellaviti & Conjunto Lacalu

Toronto-based Latin powerhouse band, Sean Bellaviti & Conjunto Lacalu, are at the leading edge of Canada’s salsa revival. Rooting themselves in the Cuban conjunto tradition, the internationally-renowned 11-piece band couples a dynamic three-trumpet horn section with Afro-Cuban percussion, piano, bass and Cuban tres guitar to create a classic salsa sound.

Performing primarily original compositions, Conjunto Lacalu’s sound and style pays homage to predecessors such as Conjunto Clasico and Sonora Ponceña.

Conjunto Lacalu released their debut CD Toronto Mambo on the Lulaworld Records label, as part of the 2017 Lulaworld festival. With tunes featuring the international guests trombonist Jimmy Bosch and singer Herman Olivera, the album has received critical acclaim.

Freshly prepared homemade tortilla chips served with mild tomatillo salsa verde followed by:

• Birria Consomé: A hearty traditional Mexican beef stew with chilli peppers, cilantro, fresh slivered onions and lime

or

• Ensalada Azteca: Mix greens mixed, tomatoes, red onions, avocado and roasted corn in a lime vinaigrette, topped with lightly fried tortilla strips

MAIN

Choice of any two tacos:

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, you must purchase all the tickets available at a table in order to reserve that table. The table placements on the map are an approximate location relative to the stage. It is not an exact to-scale representation.
