We need to have a chat. On the first Wednesday of every month, for 90 minutes, The Stowe Center for Literary Activism will host Salons at Stowe at the Stowe Visitor Center. Salons at Stowe is an open-invitation community discussion on a contemporary topic that will be facilitated by Stowe Center staff or special guests. This monthly program invites everyone to respectfully share and listen to fellow people’s opinions in the hope of creating community and inspiring action. As the writer, James Baldwin, says: "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." So, please join your fellow neighbors in facing our contemporary issues through conversation.
The first several contemporary conversation topics will be aligned with the questions posed by Amanda Mendoza’s art exhibition, “What Does It Mean to Be Human,” which is currently on display at the Stowe Visitor Center.
The first conversation topic is: “What does it mean to be human? & What happens when you’re not seen as human enough?” This conversation will be facilitated by Amanda Mendoza, the Stowe Center for Literary Activism’s Artist of Color Accelerate, and expert dialogue facilitator, Derek Hall.
