Winter months in Maine can sometimes feel stifling...so join me once a month this winter to keep that creative spark flowing in my Sunday Salon Workshop Series! Each month will feature a topic that we will take a deep dive into and gain some focused tips and tricks all while broadening your clay knowledge and connecting with other students in our studio! The 4 hands-on workshops will be brought to you by Juli Michael, one of our wonderful teachers. These classes are open to all levels.Episode 2: Tooling Around!
Potter’s Toolmaking! Let’s break out the power and hand tools and create some pottery tools! During Juli’s experience as a builder she would often ask herself, "Ok this tool works, but is it the best, most efficient tool for the job?” It is the same while working on the wheel. There are the old standby tools that are tried and true and work just fine, but when you want that special curve to your bowl, or you really could use a different kind of straight edge where do you go? You make your own! We will have tools and materials to make ribs, knives, cut off wires, cut off the hump tools, needle tools, calipers, and of course, a floating shammy!
