Become a volunteer salmon docent for our Salmon Experience program! This training will introduce you to everything you need to know: program logistics, chum salmon, Bayshore Preserve and the work Capitol Land Trust has done with our partners to restore salmon habitat. We will also cover some tips and tricks for interacting with the public. There are two ways to attend the training: in person at the Estuarium or tune in virtually via Zoom. The Zoom will be a live feed of the in-person training. A Zoom link will be sent after registration. In addition, we will share materials via Google Drive.
There is an optional visit to Bayshore Preserve on Saturday, October 26 at 2:00 pm. The site visit will help you become familiar with the preserve and the underwater cameras.
Volunteer salmon docents help explain salmon behavior to people of all ages and build awareness around the importance of salmon conservation. This program supports our vision of a future where nature and community thrive. By creating broader opportunities to learn about and experience our natural environment, we can build a stronger and more diverse community that cares about conservation.
This program operates in partnership with Puget Sound Estuarium.
