Sally and The Hurts is an Americana Roots trio from north central Kansas that brings award-winning original lyrics by Sally Vee, beautifully-crafted violin courtesy of Megan Hurt, and Jamie Lee's hauntingly melodic musical saw to the stage. Occasionally, an upright bass player will join the band for performances.
Sally and The Hurts performs regularly in venues and house concerts across western Kansas and eastern Missouri. The band also attends and performs on various campground stages during the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS where several of the Sally's songs have been chosen as category winners in the WVF New Songs Showcase over the years. They have also played music festivals such as Halfway To Everywhere, Owl Creek Jamboree, Kansas FidPick, and Smoky Hill River Fest, and have performed numerous Private Showcases at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City, Montreal, and New Orleans.
The band's debut album "Wild Life" is sure to please with songs that have made their way into fans' hearts. The self-produced album houses fifteen original songs including feature tracks "Wild Life", "Sweet Tea and Marmalade", and "In the Grave".
Songwriter Sally Vee is a member of the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission Touring Artists Roster and the Heartland Song Network as well as the Curator for Thursday Night Under The Lights which is a showcase of campground bands that takes place the third Thursday in September when the Walnut Valley Festival is in full swing. Sally is also the current Artist-In-Residence with 501(c)(3) nonprofit Friends of Chakchiuma Swamp in Grenada, Mississippi. Kristin Hamilton & The Heat is straight up Honkytonk with Folk-Country flair. If you like Emmylou Harris and The Hot Band, you'll love The Heat! Made up of 3/4 of the popular Kansas City band Cowtown Country Club with Gregory "Firesauce" Gagnon on Telecaster guitar, Jessica "Sizzlin'" Salley on drums, and Leah "Cherry Coal" Sproul on bass! Add Devon "Devil Train" Teran (Timbers) on pedal steel and Kristin's daughter Lucy "Lightning" Gray on fiddle and you've got The Heat!
