Salaam Bombay …a new cooking class.
This is the ultimate tribute to my time as a restaurateur and ‘Chef Patron’ at my establishment Salaam Bombay. The restaurant was a quaint eatery in Fourways and I had no idea at the time it would not only lay a foundation in my food career but also pave the way for an exciting adventure in food.
I started out with my first restaurant in 2002, somewhat starry eyed with a great love for cooking and entertaining. 22 years later, and what feels like nine lives, I can say I am doing food the way I wanted to over two decades ago.
It took ages to get things done…from experimenting to long debates with stubborn male chefs refusing to listen to a ‘girl’, training and tracking consistency.
This is a brand new class starting featuring the most loved restaurant style Indian favourites made the ‘real’ way without shortcuts…if it has nut paste, we use nuts and no, fresh cream will give you the ‘look’ but not the taste!
It is no secret, whether you’re making a meal for a home dinner or cooking for a large group, curry is hands down the ultimate crowd pleaser! If you are trying to perfect your curry gravies and spicing...then this class is for you!
Also known as the restaurant class, you will learn how to make a delicious Gosht Badami…leg of lamb pieces slow cooked with a blend of spices and almonds, the decadent chicken korma, potato and spinach bhaji and tamarind prawn. Included in the class, is how to make soft flour roti and spiced cream cake.
A sit down meal is served after the class where our guests feast on the dishes prepared. Call 0609885003 to book.
