Join us for the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving & Decorating Contest at the Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Please note: Contest pumpkins may be taken home after the winners are announced, but before the close of the market at 1 PM. Any pumpkins or materials not collected by this time will become property of the Saint Charles Market.
Contest Schedule
8AM-9 AM: Pumpkin Pick-Up at the City Tent
9AM-11AM: Carving & Decorating On Site
11AM: Tools Down, Judging Begins!
12PM: Winners Announced
1PM: Last Chance to Collect Pumpkins!
- Carving must be done on site between 9 AM and 11 AM
- Pumpkin designs must be appropriate and family-friendly.
- No political or religious statements or themes.
- No hazardous materials may be used.
- Do not write or display your name on your pumpkin; each entry will be assigned a
number for voting - All pumpkins must include carving as the main focal point of the design; decorations
may be used to enhance the design, but carving the pumpkin is required for the
contest. - No outside carving tools are allowed.
- Items for decorating can be brought from home, there will be a limited number of
decorating supplies on site available for use.
There is a $10 entry fee per participant or team. It includes your entry into the contest, a pumpkin to carve, and access to carving tools and limited decorations.
There are four contest categories, divided up by age groups.
KIDS (ages 8-12)
TEENS (ages 13-19)
ADULTS (ages 20+)
FAMILY TEAM (family team- recommended to include small children).
The general public will vote for their favorite pumpkins, with a top prize being awarded in each contest category. A “Best Overall” prize will be given to one of the four category winners.
