On the 22nd of each month, Maronite Catholic Churches celebrate Mass and Benediction in honor of Saint Charbel, drawing thousands of believers to his hermitage in Annaya. This tradition began after the miraculous healing of Nohad El Shami, who, on January 22, 1993. Saint Charbel performed surgery on her, curing her paralysis.
