The Department of Services for the Blind (DSB) is excited to partner with Sound Experience for a sailing adventure for students who are Blind, Deaf-Blind or Low Vision. Sailing is one of the most tactile and team-oriented sports around. It can help you gain valuable workplace readiness and self-advocacy experience by learning new skills while connecting with peers and crew.
Sailing lessons will be provided by Sound Experience aboard the historic sailing schooner Adventuress. You will learn basic seamanship and mobility aboard the vessel, explore the Puget Sound waterways and marine biology and maybe even learn a sea shanty or two!
Light refreshments will be provided aboard the schooner. You are expected to bring their own sack lunch.
Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring warm layers as it will be colder and windy on the water. Rain gear is recommended if rain is in the forecast.
