TALES OF CHO LONTales of Cho Lon tells the story of the Chinese community in Southern Vietnam in general and in Chợ Lớn in particular. Our trip will clarify the difference in culture among Chinese communities, differentiating from one Chinese dialect group’s culture to another. The differences reflect on many aspects ranging from the architecture of the communal halls, and their religious rituals, to diverse cuisine styles and manners, and so on.
Besides, this program will create ample space for dialogue so that the guests could exchange their thought with the hosts about customs and traditions, and responsibilities to preserve cultural heritage.
? ITINERARY:
Our guide welcomes you to the meeting point.
Visit Nghia An assembly hall then Tue Thanh assembly hall with interesting stories of Chinese community groups in Cho Lon: migrant influxes, culture, religion and daily life.
Continue walking to a narrow alley to get up-close view of local people daily life. Have brief stop at a street vendor selling a traditional snack before visiting to Quan Am pagoda and exploring another glance of traditional religion. We then conclude the journey with a cup of coffee at a 70-year-old roastery at a local market.
