Jazz improvisation ensemble Sahul Sakti is excited to bring the second edition of its 'Sahul Sakti and the capoeira and the pencak silat community' event to the Mr. Boogie Man Bar!Sahul Sakti is an improvisation ensemble who draws on the members' post-classical, Brazilian, Asia-Pacific, jazz, and experimental music influences to create a sound that is rooted in friendship, imagination, and a deep exploration of acoustic possibilities. This project is inspired by the great global fusion ensembles such as Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, Shakti, Dr. L Subramaniam, L. Shenkar, Nigel Kennedy, Mestre Acordeon, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Our event will celebrate our members' pencak silat and capoeira roots. Pencak silat is an Indo-Malay martial arts dance form while capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial arts, music, and dance art form.
We are delighted to welcome back Capoeira ACDP Australia as our main collaborator for this event, along with our friends from the capoeira and pencak silat communities.
