About this Event

The Work

Sky Island Alliance and the National Park Service are joining up to continue exploring and stewarding unique and remote sections of Saguaro National Park this fall and winter! Together, we will remove invasive species, monitor saguaros, remove barbed wire fencing, reseed and restore priority areas, identify wildlife and plants, and care for the land.

If you are interested in FotoFauna or caring for a wildlife camera in partnership with the National Park Service, there will be an opportunity to volunteer in an ongoing capacity with the park.

What to Expect

Due to previous commitments, there may not be any SIA staff at some of these stewardship events, but SNP will have plenty of staff to assist and instruct everyone.

Bring a water bottle, lunch, and snacks.

  • There will not be restrooms onsite.
  • Be prepared to unplug — there is limited or no cellphone or internet service where we'll be working.
  • Bring work clothes and appropriate close-toed shoes that you don't mind getting dirty and potentially torn.
  • Bring work gloves if you have a pair you like: we'll be working with barbed wire on certain days.

Getting There

SIA volunteers are to meet outside the Rincon District visitor center at Saguaro National Park East and look for signage titled 'Sky Island Alliance' for where to park and meet with SNP staff
