About this Event
The SAGC will be hosting a series of free hybrid in-person/online seminars, which will bring together researchers from across the globe to demonstrate how genomics data is being used to facilitate vital research. We are pleased to announce that our first seminar series will take place on the Friday 17th July, 2022.
We will be kicking off this seminar series with a microbiome theme and are very excited to be hosting Professor Jillian Banfield from the Departments of Earth and Planetary Science and Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC Berkeley in California. Jillian's research interests are in geomicrobiology, which is the study of how microorganisms shape, and are shaped by, their natural environments. Her research group studies microbial communities, primarily using cultivation-independent approaches such as genome-resolved metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metaproteomics and metabolomics.
Jillian will be joined by a local speaker and a commerical NGS speaker, details of which will be finalized in the coming days.
