The SAGC invites you to last bioinformatics workshop of 2021: Epigenomics Analysis
About this Event

As part of the SAGC's commitment to providing analysis training to researchers in the state, we have conducted three workshops on common genomics approaches and the Bioinformatics methods that can be used to analyse them. These workshops are open to all researchers within the state, introducing and presenting tutorials on the computational analysis techniques of high-throughput sequencing data while also providing hands-on support from SAGC staff and collaborating research expertise. Workshops are aimed to help all levels of bioinformatics knowledge, however there will be an assumed familiarity with analysis environments including the Linux/UNIX command-line terminal and/or R statistical computing console through RStudio.

To round off 2021, we are announcing our four workshops Epigenomics Analysis, which will be hosted by the University of South Australia & Centre for Cancer Biology and take place at the UniSA Health Innovation Building (North Terrace, Adelaide City) on Tuesday September 21st, 2021. This workshop will provide attendees with an introduction to common Epigenetics sequencing techniques, such DNA Methylation, Histone Modifications, miRNA and Chromosome Conformation Capture techniques, and includes a hands-on DNA methylation analysis session on the analysis of whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) data.

To help is present this work, we have the pleasure of welcoming Associate Professor Bastien Llamas, ancient DNA researcher and ARC Future Research Fellow from the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA at the University of Adelaide. Bastien is former President & current Secretary of the Epigenetics Consortium of South Australia (EpicSA) and researchers how genetic and epigenetic mechanisms facilitate human adaptation to diverse environmental and cultural stressors. Bastien will be joined by a number of Adelaide-based Epigenetics researchers and SAGC staff.
