Join Safwat Saleem for a talk and workshop as he discusses, unpacks, and dissects the evolution of his art practice over the past decade. In the hands-on workshop, Safwat will guide participants through his use of personal lived experiences to create emotionally resonant art.
Safwat Saleem is a multidisciplinary artist working to give visibility to immigrant narratives, with a focus on cultural loss resulting from assimilation. Safwat’s body of work weaves together themes of preservation, desire to belong, resistance and joy as an immigrant father raising a multiracial child in the American Southwest.
