About this Event
Join our interactive sessions for hands-on tips and real-life skills! Tackle challenges, learn new things, and have fun too!
This is delivered over 8 sessions from Nov - Mar
(4 after school sessions and 4 day's out). At the end we will all meet for a meal out to celebrate.
Designed for 15-19 year olds who are neurodiverse and who want to meet others in safe and welcoming spaces for hands-on and fun learning all around the topic of Staying Safe.
The sessions are led by experienced staff, including some who are neurodivergent themselves. Sessions come from a postitive and accepting place of our neurodiverse backgrounds, where we want to learn together without masking.
Teens attending these sessions will need to be able to participate with some level of independence. (We are unable to offer 1 to 1 support). Sessions take place with a ratio of 1 adult to 8 teens.
The main aims of the sessions are to:
- Understand personal risks.
- Increase confidence and skills.
- Develop relationships.
- Able to seek support.
The topics we will cover:
- Healthy Relationships (including spotting abuse and seeking help)
- Money Safety (including financial scams)
- Online Safety
- Sexual Safety (including consent)
- Alcohol, drugs, health & wellbeing
- Community Safety and Travel Training
- Behaviour & Communication
There will be a total contribution of £6.25 per teen towards the cost of all the sessions. If any family will struggle to pay that contribution, please email me in confidence: [email protected]
Teens will need to bring their own money towards bus/train fare, any food or drinks they would like to buy on our day's out and to cover a group activity such as bowling. (We will provide snacks and drinks at all after school sessions). Day's out will be around Wokingham, Reading & Bracknell and will form part of our travel training using local buses or trains.
