We're please to announce that we'll be running our SafeBase Parenting Programme in both May and October 2024 in our Edinburgh Office. SafeBase is an empowering Therapeutic Parenting Program created to meet the needs of parents who are seeking to gain a better understanding of their children’s behaviour.The SafeBase Parenting Programme has several key objectives:
* Educate and inform parents about attachment, brain development and the impact of trauma, but crucially, also help parents to make links to their own child’s early experiences.
* Teach parents techniques/strategies to build positive attachments and give them the tools to tackle unwanted behaviours.
* Offer a safe space for parents to talk openly and frankly about the issues they struggle with.
* Enable parents to exchange ideas and gain mutual support.
What the Course Consists of
* Pre-training family assessment (undertaken at home) followed by strengths focused feedback.
* A two-day in person training course for adoptive parents at our Edinburgh Office.
Main Techniques used in SafeBase
In recognition that children learn best through play, SafeBase uses Theraplay®. This will build upon the training families may have already had on Theraplay.
Attachment narrative therapy is part of the programme as a technique that uses stories to help communicate and connect with children.
The two day in person training will take place on:
14th and 15th of May 2024 from 10.00am till 4.00pm.
Or
22nd and 23rd of October 2024 from 10.00am till 4.00pm
