About this Event
Led by Mary Lou O’Kennedy, founding director of OAK Conflict Dynamics
How to Resolve Conflicts Between Others. It is estimated that managers spend over a third of their time managing conflict and yet most managers do not feel equipped with the tools and knowledge about how to do this well.
The impact of poorly managed conflict can result in low morale, low performance and poor decision making. This can result in a stressful working environment leading to time lost through absenteeism, presenteeism, high turnover and loss of talented staff.
Third Party Resolution (TPR) is a powerful communication tool that helps managers and leaders to resolve workplace conflict. The key to managing conflict is to stop it before it starts or at its lowest level.
This course will teach participants how to proactively manage workplace conflict. Through a combination of classroom discussion around the Necessary Knowledge to understand and solve conflict and classroom skills training, participants will learn and practice a unique communication tool that can be used in all workplaces to de-escalate conflict.
TPR is a unique option because it produces better decision making and collaboration, not just compliance. Third-Party Resolution is a template with which you can apply using your current skills, once you understand the tool. It can be learned in this one-day programme and is suitable to use in every workplace. It is estimated that 90% of interpersonal conflicts can be resolved using this tool.
While TPR is a stand-alone workshop, it is complementary and will build upon the knowledge and skills learned in the OAK Effective Conflict Management course which is delivered within the Safe to Create training programme.
TPR is a tool of the Mediation Training Institute (MTI) in Eckerd College, Florida. This course is delivered in partnership with OAK. Each participant will receive an MTI workbook and certificate of completion.
