About this Event
Safe Sitter® is a nationally-recognized program that gives kids ages 11-16 (mature 10 years-old is okay) the skills and knowledge needed to safely care for children infants through school age. In this 1-day workshop, in addition to the importance of treating babysitting as a business, participants will learn choking rescue skills, how to handle life-threatening emergencies, how to keep themselves safe, when and how to call for help, and child development knowledge to help them become a safer and better sitter. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students must attend the entire session and exhibit respectful, mature, responsible, and safe qualities that are desired in a babysitter to receive their completion card.
Course content includes but is not limited to:
Safety Skills: Indoor safety, outdoor safety, online safety, and personal safety.
Child Care Skills: Child development, child care routines (including diapering practice), and behavior management.
First Aid & Rescue Skills: Injury prevention, injury management, and choking rescue.
Life & Business Skills: Screening jobs, setting fees, and greeting employers.
Registration fee includes the Safe Sitter workbook and completion card/certificate. Snacks provided, please bring NUT-FREE lunch and water bottle.
