About this Event
Safe Church, Safe Communities
“Safe Church, Safe Communities” has replaced the former “Safeguarding God’s Children” in an effort to move from a liability model to a more comprehensive training approach, rooted in our Baptismal covenant, that encompasses issues of power, ethics, boundaries, and inclusivity to create safe spaces for all, especially children and vulnerable adults. Many roles require updated Safe Church training, to be renewed every 3 years.
There will be a 3-hour in-person training for the Lancaster Convocation:
Saturday, November 9, 1-4 pm, St. Thomas, Lancaster
For these 3- hour trainings, we will cover the following modules in one training session:
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Introduction & Theological Background
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Organizational Rule & Policies
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Healthy Boundaries
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Inclusion
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Power and Relationships
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Abuse & Neglect
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Bullying
- Duty to Report: Mandated Reporting
While this training is specific to the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania context and requirements, all are welcome to attend. Both trainings will meet the requirements for most roles in parishes. More information about Safe Church can be found on our website: https://diocesecpa.org/safechurch/
