We at Sad Songs Cantina are on a mission to introduce Toronto to the magical spirits that come from agave, a large blue-green cactus that grows in the high dry northern region of Mexico, especially the incredible smooth range of tequilas produced by small independent distilleries in Guanajuato, Jalisco, and Tamaulipas, using all-natural and traditional methods.
Sad Songs owner, Miguel Arguello, and sommelier, Daniel Nava, of The Beverage Collective, have sourced and curated an exclusive selection of artisanal tequilas, only available at Sad Songs Cantina, and paired them with a menu of elevated Mexican street food.
Whether you’re a long-time tequila fan or you’re just beginning to explore it, there’s a lot to discover about this historic Mexican spirit. Not only will this event delight your taste buds, but also your mind, as we regale you with tales of Mexican history, as well as the what, where, and how of tequila production.
Menu: For the price of your ticket, you will enjoy three varieties of tequila, one of our tequila-mezcal cocktails, and one infused Tequilana, paired with our signature sea bass ceviche, two Holy Tacos (chosen in advance from our selection of ossobuco, duck, pork belly, fish, or veggie), and a churro rolled in cinnamon, served with our in-house caramel sauce.
