SAD HOUR Returns to The Bug Jar on Friday, February 21st!Maybe you're down because the Buffalo Bills have hung up their cleats, a few weeks too soon, once again. Perhaps the Valentine you'd pined all year for never showed up for the elaborate dinner date you'd carefully curated. You could be down about the current state of politics, religion, The Kia Boys, or just in a general state of malaise over everything and nothing.
Well, if you land in any or all of these emotional states, we have just the thing for you:
Sad Hour.
Yes: Sad Hour.
While all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world have a "Happy Hour", we all know how poor a moniker this truly is. NOBODY is actually happy at happy hour. It's about as much of a facade as the Zebra job given to the Bills this year! Nobody's buying it!
So rather than deny that we're feeling a little blue, here at Sad Hour, we embrace the Rochester doldrums. We relish the bad luck... cough... Refs... our team suffers from each season. We get together, and we share our heartbreaks and sorrows over a drink, with some good tunes, playing in the background. Preferably sad tunes. And hell... why not sad country tunes: The genre that defined heartbreak, that culled the cry-break from Hank Williams, that tugs our heart-strings like no other.
In that spirit, I present to you Sad Hour on Friday, February 21st, at The Bug Jar!
From 5 pm until 8 pm, yours truly will be spinning a hand-selected mix of sad country songs, all on vinyl. I'll be slinging some of the saddest songs in history, for your listening and commiserating pleasure!
So if you're feeling election-bummed, T-Swifted and Kermited out, heartbroken or blue, come on down to The Bug Jar, and share those sorrows with the warm crackle and pop of vinyl sorrow, playing in the background. When we share our sorrows, we feel a little bit better about everything.
