About this Event
Please join us for a unique and beautiful evening of Sufi chanting and singing, hosted by Saara Hasan and Evelyn Blacklock at the School of Sufi Teaching in the intimate setting of our meditation centre in Bethnal Green.
Saara Hasan is a London based singer and composer, who has been performing and sharing songs from a range of faith traditions with her female acapella group, Sacred Sounds, for over a decade.
In this workshop, Saara will start with teaching very simple chants in Arabic from the Sufi traditions, before moving to share more complex songs in Arabic, Farsi or Turkish, depending on the interest of the group. Songs will be taught aurally, with the text provided on printed song sheets.
All levels of singing experience are welcome, and no prior musical training is required. For those who may feel unconfident or uncertain about singing, there will be gentle warm up and the opportunity to listen and join in as a non-singing participant.
Participants interested in being introduced to the School of Sufi Teaching meditation practice are warmly invited to stay on.
