We warmly invite you to join us for a unique concert of Sacred Indian Music and South Indian Cuisine. Jason Kalidas and Dennis Kucherov invite you to a concert of Sacred Indian Raagas with Bansuri, Tabla and Handpan to send our love for peace throughout the world.
As we turn into the crisp warmer spring sessions of 2024 with a House of Sacred Art production and the unfolding of Series 2 Chapter 4 at the iconic Grade 2 listed building of St. Augustine’s Arts and Events Centre.
Step inside this lovingly restored former church where many have come together over the years; a sacred building steeped in musical history.
You’ll be welcomed by soft ambient lighting, a Sacred Art gallery and authentic southern Indian cuisine and chai to purchase.
We welcome Jason Kalidas alongside Dennis Kucherov.
Their performance ranges from deeply meditative to improvised fiery explorations of rhythm and melody! A rare chance to hear authentic Indian Raags with amazing rhythms being performed in Brighton from two accomplished Indian classical musicians.
The artists have spent their lives training and performing Indian classical music and every performance is unique, this duo have a special stage chemistry not to be missed!
Indian Raags are ancient musical formulas that have their roots in Naad Yoga (Yoga of sound). Raags developed in ancient temples with the intent to go deeper into the self through the Raasas (archetypal emotions), meditation and trance.
The Raags will be played on the evocative Bansuri (low pitched bamboo flute) and are set to the hypnotic rhythmic cycles played on the amazing percussion instruments of Tabla & Handpan!

JASON KALIDAS (Bansuri) is a British/Irish Bansuri player, trained in Indian classical music since 1996 in the sacred city of Varanasi, India.

Jason teaches workshops on Rasa theory and is also a composer for contemporary dance. He has performed for Darbar festival, The place London , Saddlers wells, UN headquarters NYC, MACBA Barcelona and many more.
