Nota Bene is delighted to present a programme of choral works—featuring both a cappella and organ-accompanied sacred music. Our first performance of two will be in Palmerston North.Tickets are available to purchase on the door only (no online sales). $25 / $20 concession.
The concert spans a range of European composers, blending Renaissance and modern styles. Highlights include William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, composed during England’s Catholic persecution, and Roxanna Panufnik’s Kyrie after Byrd, which draws on Byrd’s melodies in a contemporary setting.
We are delighted to feature Heather Easting on the organ for Herbert Howells’ Collegium Regale Service, a celebrated work that pairs rich choral harmonies with the organ’s supportive role in the service settings. David Griffiths’ Beata Virgo offers a moving reflection on the Blessed Virgin Mary, blending modern harmonic language with traditional choral forms.
The programme also presents works from Jonathan Dove, Henryk Górecki and other composers, each offering unique reflections on faith and spirituality. This is an opportunity to experience a captivating range of sacred harmonies across different styles and eras.
