Event Description:
Join us for an evening talk in which the internationally renowned spiritual teacher John Philip Newell outlines the main themes of his award-winning book Sacred Earth Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom for Reawakening to What Our Souls Know and Healing the World (Harper One). Newell calls us to be aware of the sacredness of Earth and every human being as key to the way of transformation and healing in our lives and world.
John Philip Newell is a much-loved Scottish ‘wandering teacher’ in the ancient Celtic Christian tradition, seeking the wellbeing of the world. He has been described as having ‘the heart of a Celtic bard and the mind of a Celtic scholar’, combining in his teachings the poetic and intellectual, the head as well as the heart, and spiritual awareness as well as political and ecological engagement. His prophetic message carries great hope for our wellbeing, both individually and together.
‘In Celtic wisdom we remember Earth as sacred. Every tree and bush, every flower and creature, every hill and mountain is on fire with the divine. … What we do to the body of Earth is what we do to the divine.’ - John Philip Newell, Sacred Earth Sacred Soul
