Raw Cacao is a powerful plant medicine that has been used ceremonially for thousands of years across Central and South America. Cacao is unlike other plant medicines in that it doesn’t take you on a journey, but gently supports you wherever you are. Cacao is a more subtle energy that works with you based on what is happening inside. Raw cacao is considered a heart opener due to certain active ingredients and people generally describe cacao as a heart-centered energy because it significantly increases blood flow and generates an expansive feeling, often centered around the heart.In combination with the allowing practice of Yin Yoga we will use yoga poses supporting the realiser of tensions in the body. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body; the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.
We will start with honoring the sacred cacao and drinking the Ceremonial Raw Cacao that our host, Dusty Swehla, has brought back with her from Costa Rica. She will then share additional information about the cacao plant and its medicinal properties. Followed by Yin meditation and yin heart opening yoga practice paired with a gentle sound healing journey. We will end the workshop with raw chocolate treats.
Our ceremony guide, Dusty Swehla is the founder and owner of Panda Marie LLC, a holistic healing center located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She has been in recovery for many years and has dedicated her business to helping others live a life they love, naturally. She is a E-RYT 500 with many subspecialty certifications. She is also an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Clinical Hypnotherapist & hosts retreats all over the world. Dusty helps clients of all ages and backgrounds, meeting them where they’re at on their journey of life. Please bring a yoga mat (we have a few to lend if you don't have one!) water and a journal and pen. This practice and cacao ceremony is open to all levels. If you are pregnant, please consult with your physician.
