SÝČEK (CZ / SK) Is known as the messenger of death, but in Czech alternative music he has always been a nickname for the musical anti-genre krautrock, which domestic bands only very sporadically included in their repertoires. Motor drums, hypnotic melodies, repetitive structures, minimalist lyrics and the slogan less is more have characterized this band since the first songs. Their debut album "I" (released by NAAB) was enthusiastically received by music critics in 2017 (nomination for the Vinyl award and inclusion in the TOP 10 Czech records for 2017 of the international magazine Beehype.) After the band performed extensively and completed several European tour, but there was a longer hiatus caused by the breakup of the original South Bohemian line-up.

Sýček rose from the ashes like a phoenix last year, when the frontman and singer of the group Libor Staněk II. together with guitarist Richard Stein (Pokora) invited Jakub Zhánal (ex Acute dose), Ambroz Šulej (Krstní Otcovia) and Adam Křizovenský with Nataly Středová (GRÜNT) to the new formation.
Currently, the Czech-Slovak band Sýček is releasing a second studio album with the laconic name "IV" in the fall of 2024 after six years. The new group returns to where Sýček took off for the first time: to krautrock invocation that puts fans in an intense trance. Great emphasis is once again placed on Czech texts, in which there are allusions to Indian poetry by Ladislav Novák, the awkward poetics of Egon Bondy, but also contemporary Czech poetry in the form of verses by Radek Štěpánek or Štěpán Alexander. The band was also inspired in the lyrics by DG307's Nosferatu Horror Symphony based on the famous film F.W. Murnau. Artist Štěpán Blaschko is in charge of the album artwork.
The release of the limited edition vinyl will take place in cooperation with the Czech Ornithological Society (https://www.birdlife.cz) and will reflect the fact that the Sýček is one of the most endangered owl species in the Czech Republic. A special zine will also be published to mark the occasion. The recording will be released in a Czech-Slovak co-production on the music labels Poli5 (CZ) and Vlna records (SK) with the support of www.soundczech.cz. The band recorded and mixed the record in Studio Jámor of Ondřej Ježek.
Sýček is planning a special tour in Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic in autumn to mark the release of the record.
