RÓIS
Róis is an Irish composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer whose songs explore diverse modes of expression; forging an idiosyncratic blend of folk and sean-nós, electronics, jazz harmony and extended vocal techniques. She summons the dead with her haunting sean-nós keening songs, as well as her massive, thunderous and booming soundscapes. Often compared to the likes of Meredith Monk, Björk or Hatis Noit Róise is continually adapting her set list which people have described as transcendent and unearthly.
CÓRAS TRIO
Belfast’s Córas Trio are steeped in free improv, electronic music, and the city’s “seisiún” or session scene. Comprising of Kevin McCullagh (fiddle, electronics), Paddy McKeown (guitar, electronics) and Conor McAuley (drums), the trio are part of a new creative wave of musicians based in Belfast exploring how traditional music relates to the experience of the 21st century.
This Belfast performance see’s the launch of their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Córas Trio’ and album where Irish traditional music is taken to the outer reaches and where the spirits of Schoenberg and Sun Ra play with Seán Ó Riada and Tommy Potts.
