“O Black and Unknown Bards” is a poem written by James Weldon Johnson that gives homage to those enslaved “Cotton-Field Composers” who created the songs that led them on the path to freedom. Sorrow songs, spirituals, folk songs, jubilees and early gospel selections will be experienced. Audience participation is highly encouraged. This is a diversity awareness class.
