About this Event
Ruth Shaber Lunch & Book Talk
Join Dr. Ruth Shaber, an inspirational philanthropist and change-maker, to discuss her journey from physician to change-maker and her book, The ** Edge. The ** Edge highlights how beneficial it is when women are involved in financial decision-making. This event is in-person and open to Impact Collective community members, Invest for Better members, and Trillium clients and team members.
We encourage you to read The ** Edge in advance of the event to get the most out of the discussion, but it is not required to attend; we promise you will find the community and discussion inspiring either way!
“What most investors don't realize is that when more women are involved in financial decision-making across all entities that make financial decisions (including governments, private and public companies, investment funds, real estate development, and individual households), money is managed more efficiently and effectively, investments are more profitable, and companies and governments make better decisions that benefit individual investors and, ultimately, the overall economy.” —The ** Edge
Meet Ruth
Ruth Shaber, MD, is a changemaker and innovator, moving from a robust career as an OBGYN and senior executive at Kaiser Permanente to empowering women across finance and healthcare. Currently, she is the founder and president of Tara Health Foundation, a philanthropic investment group that uses evidence-informed programs to promote women's well-being and opportunities.
She is also the co-founder and board chair of Rhia Ventures, a collective of foundations and investors committed to bringing new types of capital to the reproductive health field. Her recently published book, The ** Edge: Unlocking Higher Returns and Lower Risk, serves as the basis for her new initiative — The Diverse Investing Collective — which aims to increase the assets managed by gender-diverse and racially-diverse teams to 33 percent by 2033.
The Impact Collective
Our mission is to close the racial wealth gap by educating and activating people with wealth to leverage their influence and affluence within a diverse and connected community. We envision a truly equitable America where all people can access the capital and opportunities they seek to thrive regardless of their skin color or socioeconomic status.
