Canadian alt-rock legends Rusty are set to bring their explosive sound and high-octane energy to Sonic Hall! Bursting onto the scene in 1994 with their debut EP Wake Me on Handsome Boy Records, Rusty quickly gained attention with their raw, uncompromising sound. Widespread campus radio airplay caught the attention of BMG, leading to the release of their 1995 breakthrough album Fluke. Featuring hit singles like "Misogyny" and "Groovy Dead," Fluke was a commercial success, earning the band a Juno nomination for Best Alternative Album. The video for "Misogyny" gained heavy airplay on MuchMusic, thanks to scenes from Bruce LaBruce's cult film Hustler White. The Toronto quartet’s follow-up, Sophomoric (1997), delivered fan favorites like "Empty Cell" and "Oh No Joe," solidifying their status in the Canadian alt-rock scene. The video for "Empty Cell," also directed by LaBruce, featured a young Danko Jones, further elevating their cult following. After disbanding in 2000, Rusty reunited in 2011, rekindling their live performances with the same intensity that defined their earlier years. In 2018, the band returned with Dogs of Canada, their first album in two decades, followed by a series of shows across Canada.
HotKid is the creative vision of Canadian producer, songwriter, and guitarist Shiloh Harrison. For over a decade, Harrison’s soothing vocal delivery and knack for writing enduring pop songs have helped HotKid cultivate a cult following around the globe. With four full-length albums and multiple EPs and singles to their name, HotKid’s sound ranges from guitar-driven rock anthems to dreamy, melancholic pop ballads. HotKid has performed at notable festivals such as River Fest Elora, NXNE, and CMW, and has shared stages with indie icons Sloan, and By Divine Right. The band has earned a reputation for their energetic and emotive live shows across Canada, the US, and the UK.
Hyness is a four-piece band fronted by singer/guitarists Marcus and Amy Addams. Drawing inspiration primarily from the glorious fuzz that defined the first half of the 1990s, The Addams’ cite legendary Scottish bands like The Jesus And Mary Chain and the Vaselines as primary influences. Blissful vocals and raw power form the foundation of Hyness’ sound.
